Here's another tip for keeping your hydration bladder clean. As soon as you get back from a trip, dump the water, throw the bladder into a plastic grocery bag, and toss it into your freezer. Take it out only when you're ready to use it again. Now you don't need to worry about drying out your bladder after every trip and you will have to clean it far less often. Works well for me.

Soaking with vitamin C after the Clorox treatment might reduce the clorox taste, except for whatever has been absorbed by the plastic and leaches out over time. All you need is the amount of dust gotten from rubbing two tablets together over the bladder opening and filling with water. This concept works with iodine for water purification in plastic bottles, so it should work with bladders.

When using your Hydration pack in winter, do the "blow back." This is where you blow the water in the hose back into the bladder after you have taken a drink. There is little or no water in the hose to freeze!
